Virtual Annual General Meeting of Telefónica Deutschland resolves upon a dividend payment of EUR 506 million for the 2019 financial year

Today, Telefónica Deutschland successfully held the company's first virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) according to the 'COVID-19 Auswirkungsbekämpfungsgesetz' via webcast without physical presence of shareholders or their proxies. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, shareholders were able to address their questions to the company in writing ahead of time and subsequently decide on important topics such as the election of the Supervisory Board and the dividend for the 2019 financial year.

CEO, Markus Haas, and CFO, Markus Rolle, provided information from the company's headquarters in Munich about the company's good operational and financial performance in 2019 and explained how they intend to invest and achieve profitable growth in the coming years. Shareholders were able to connect via webcast using PC, tablet or smartphone.

At the virtual AGM, the shareholders approved a dividend of EUR 0.17 per share for the 2019 financial year with 98.92% of the votes of the capital present. This corresponds to a dividend distribution of EUR 506 million.

The shareholders also voted with a large majority to discharge the members of the management board and the supervisory board for the 2019 financial year and the continued appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers GmbH as auditor. Peter Löscher was elected also with a large majority to the Supervisory Board as a shareholder representative.

The virtual presence of shareholders at the AGM was 87%. Despite the virtual format, this is close to the number of shareholders attending previous physical AGMs of the company.
