Garbsen, 24 July 2020 - According to preliminary figures, LPKF Laser & Electronics AG has achieved consolidated earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of around EUR 5.2 million in the second quarter 2020 with consolidated revenue of EUR 30 million. This EBIT is above the upper end of the company's own communicated earnings expectations for the second quarter (EUR 1 to 4 million) and 30% above the corresponding previous year's figure (Q2 2019: EUR 4 million). The higher profitability is mainly due to cost reduction measures and only a small proportion of large orders in the revenue.

Revenue is in line with the Company's revenue expectations for the second quarter (EUR 28 to 33 million) and, as expected, was down on the prior-year period (Q2 2019: EUR 36.3 million). After six months of the 2020 financial year, consolidated sales reached EUR 50 million, down 31% on the previous year's figure of EUR 72.7 million.

At EUR 18 million, incoming orders in the second quarter 2020 were down on the previous year's figure of EUR 24 million, while orders on hand reached EUR 22 million (previous year: EUR 31.4 million). The lower incoming orders and orders on hand are attributable exclusively to delays in Solar projects.

The ability to forecast the current financial year is still limited due to the economic conditions arising from the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. The medium-term prospects for LPKF and in particular the growth prospects for the LIDE segment are unchanged.
