DGAP-News: ItN Nanovation AG / Key word(s): Incoming Orders ItN Nanovation AG: ItN Nanovation subsidiary CeraNovis wins important contract 22.08.2013 / 09:03 --------------------------------------------------------------------- CeraNovis GmbH, a 100 % subsidiary of ItN Nanovation AG (ISIN DE000A0JL461) has received a six-figure contract by space company Astrium Ltd in the space coatings division under funding by the European Space Agency for the needs of the Solar Orbiter mission. The first significant impact on turnover will be in the books as early as the second half of 2013. Astrium Ltd, in its role as Prime Contractor for ESA's Solar Orbiter mission, has commissioned CeraNovis with the development of a specific ceramic coating for components of the probe that are particularly stressed - e.g. by temperature and radiation. If the coating successfully qualifies, chances are good that the CeraNovis coating is defined as standard for one or several of the thermally stressed surfaces of the probe. CeraNovis GmbH develops, produces and sells ceramic high performance coatings for metals exposed to harsh conditions. In addition to selling products for numerous industrial applications, the company is active in the field of contracted development, where this order belongs. The management of CeraNovis is encouraged by this new sales success and remains very optimistic with regards to the company's prospects. Solar Orbiter is a seven-year space mission of European Space Agency ESA under Astrium Ltd Prime Contractorship, planned to be launched in 2017. Solar Orbiter will gradually approach the Sun and swing into an orbit around it, at times approaching it down to 28% of the average Sun-Earth distance and receiving nearly 13 times the solar flux existing in space at the Sun-Earth distance. The task of the probe is to observe the Sun surface, interior and surroundings and at the same time to investigate the solar wind, the effects of which are also noticeable on Earth e.g. in the form of polar lights or interference with radio communications.
