HANSA GROUP AG strives for medium-term cost leadership in care chemicals
market
- First phase of three-part restructuring program complete
- Turnaround expected in 2014
- Enhanced efficiency by consolidating functions
- Adjustment of current headcount to new structure
Genthin, October 7, 2013 - HANSA GROUP AG, a leading, integrated provider
of care chemicals in Europe, has successfully wrapped up the first phase of
the restructuring project it began in the summer in cooperation with
consulting firm Roland Berger. Following the completion of the analysis and
conception phases, the company is set to pursue the same business model and
strategy but within the framework of an optimized organizational structure.
HANSA's specific aims are to increase operational efficiency, optimize
Group controlling and improve corporate financing. The restructuring
project is set to increase efficiency in the short term and bring the
company back on course toward profitability. The project is split up into a
total of three phases; work has already started on implementing all
resolved measures.
These include a review of all sites. By reorganizing sites as pure
production sites, administrative functions that were previously scattered
across the Group can now be consolidated in Duisburg. In addition, all
structures and processes are to be evaluated with a view to optimizing
cooperation within the HANSA Group. Aside from significant cost savings,
the management of HANSA GROUP AG also anticipates better integration of
subsidiaries in the Group as a whole.
The restructuring program also includes an adjustment of the current
headcount in line with the optimized Group structure. This primarily
affects the number of temporary and contract workers, while full-time
employees will only be affected to a limited extent. However, by moving
some jobs into centralized functions, new employees will also be hired.
Thomas Pfisterer, Spokesman of the HANSA GROUP AG Management Board: 'The
review we launched into our business model with the help of an external
consulting firm showed that we are basically on the right course with our
current strategy. Next year we intend to achieve a turnaround in terms of
our earnings. Our medium-term goal is to assume the role of cost leader in
the care chemicals market by making substantial savings. In our Chemicals
segment, we offer our customers a high-quality product portfolio,
unrivalled supply reliability and high standards of environmental safety in
both production and logistics. In terms of Consumer Products, we are
continuing to raise our competitiveness in the private labels segment and
remain a strategic partner for our customers.'
