Manz AG: Daimler Truck AG places first multi-million order within the strategic cooperation

• First order includes cell assembly and electrode manufacturing equipment for "InnoLab Battery" in Mannheim, Germany
• As a high-tech equipment engineering company, Manz supports Daimler Truck in establishing itself as an innovation leader in the electrified commercial vehicle industry
• Order volume in the low double-digit million-euro range will affect revenues and earnings in 2022/2023

Reutlingen, August 16, 2022 - Manz AG, a globally active high-tech engineering company with a comprehensive technology portfolio, has received its first order within the cooperation agreement concluded with Daimler Truck AG at the end of May 2022. The order comprises the first systems for the "InnoLab Battery" in Mannheim, which is currently being set up in the context of Daimler Truck's electrification strategy. In the final expansion stage, the "InnoLab Battery" will comprise more than 60 systems on approximately 10,000 square meters. The order now placed with Manz AG, with a total value in the low double-digit million-euro range, will affect revenues and earnings in roughly equal parts in this and the next fiscal year.

With the strategic cooperation and the investment in Manz AG, Daimler Truck is laying the foundation for the design of CO₂-neutral transportation and the transformation from conventional to alternative drive technologies. As one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, Daimler Truck is pursuing the clear goal of being the innovation leader in the commercial vehicle industry. This requires battery cells that meet the special requirements of trucks and buses. The InnoLab's research findings will serve as the basis for the successful development of the company's own innovative lithium-ion battery cells as well as their production and assembly into complete battery systems, and will be incorporated into the development of Daimler Truck's battery-electric product platform by the end of 2024.
