Alphaform AG, Europe's leading industrial 3D printing service provider, is progressing step by step with its 11-point plan unveiled in autumn 2014 for restructuring production in the Additive Manufacturing Plastic (AM Plastic) business segment at the Feldkirchen location. In particular, a new production facility is now available to meet the aim of increasing industrialisation of production. Only as recently as December 2014 had the company rented the required capacities one kilometre away from the company headquarters. Production using newly purchased laser sintering machines was brought to the planned level there within 100 days, even though water damage forced operations to be temporarily suspended and therefore delayed production start-up. With the new location entering normal operation, Alphaform has reached a milestone in the ongoing optimisation of production. While implementation of the 11-point plan entailed significant extraordinary expenses in the first quarter of 2015 in particular, this has enabled Alphaform to now also increase the efficiency of production in the AM Plastic business segment over the long term. The efficiency and profitability of the two other business units were successfully improved back in 2014. Self-developed technologies such as electroforming equipment play a key role in this ongoing optimisation process. This method considerably shortens the time required to produce ready-to-use sheet metal parts for prototypes and small-scale series and recently received the Federal Award for Outstanding Innovative Achievement in the craft trade.
