Press Release
Results for the 1st Quarter of 2016
BDI - BioEnergy International AG reaches a noticeable increase of sales
revenues caused by the scheduled processing of major projects
(Grambach, May 12, 2016) Despite the difficult market environment in the
biodiesel and biogas market, BDI was able to maintain its high order
backlog and start with the processing of its two major projects in the UK.
As a result of the scheduled processing of the major projects in the UK and
Göss, BDI - BioEnergy International AG reports sales revenues of EUR 6.0
million (previous year: EUR 4.3 million). Due to expensive orders for major
components in the course of these projects, the operating result (EBIT) in
the reporting period was EUR -1.6 million (previous year: EUR -1.7
million). Due to a positive financial result the net result for the period
improved to EUR -0.5 million (previous year: EUR -0.8 million).
In the first quarter of 2016 the cash flow from operations was EUR -5.1
million (previous year: EUR 3.5 million) due to the orders for materials
and the use of the advance payments received.
High order backlog on hand and promising research results
The order backlog on hand on 31 March, 2016 improved slightly compared to
the previous year and is still at a high level. Overall, the order
situation at the end of March was EUR 94.6 million (previous year: EUR 89.1
million).
In the field of algae production in the life science sector, the industrial
plant in Hartberg is currently in the basic engineering phase. The
preparations for starting the construction this year are underway.
Having been awarded the VERENA Award for the bioCRACK Project as part of
the State Innovation Awards 2016, BDI has managed to assert itself against
300 submissions nationwide and to claim the coveted award.
Stable basis for the future
With a consistently high equity base of EUR 50.4 million and an equity
ratio of 58.5 % (previous year: 64.5 %), BDI remains on solid foundations.
The slight reduction of the equity ratio is caused by the consumption of
the payments received. With the successful on-going processing of the
current major projects and the potential acquisition of new projects, BDI
is confident to achieve sustainable success in the medium term.
