Press release
BDI - BioEnergy International AG: Successful 2015 fiscal year
(Grambach, March 31, 2016): BDI - BioEnergy International AG, leading
technology supplier and special plant manufacturer, recorded an increase in
sales of 103% to EUR 33.3 million in the 2015 fiscal year. The revenue
increase is attributable to the implementation of two biogas and one
biodiesel project. The operating result (EBIT) in the period under review
amounted to EUR 0.1 million (previous year: -EUR 5.0 million). The
excellent financial result of EUR 5.0 million includes, among others, the
sale of the shares in the M&R Holding AG. After the deduction of taxes BDI
reports a very satisfying net result of EUR 3.7 million (previous year: EUR
-1.7 million). With an on-going excellent order backlog of EUR 98.9 million
and an outstanding equity position BDI is well prepared for the future.
The cash flow from the operating activity increased to EUR 12.9 million in
the 2015 fiscal year (previous year: -EUR 4.1 million). The cash and
securities portfolio worth EUR 58.8 million at the end of 2015 has
increased by EUR 22.7 million compared to the previous year. The equity
base amounted to EUR 50.9 million, which led to an equity ratio of 57%.
Further increase in the order backlog
The order backlog reached EUR 98.9 million at the end of December 2015 and
was therefore substantially increased compared to 2014 (previous year: EUR
73.9 million). The positive development is attributable primarily to the
obtainment of new commissions in Great Britain, which are currently in the
installation phase.
Project implementation on schedule
In the 2015 fiscal year BDI was able to successfully hand over a biodiesel
project in Spain as well as two biogas plants in Poland and Austria.
On-going difficulties with regard to project funding and authority
approvals are continuing to delay the generation of sales of the major
biodiesel projects in Croatia and the Netherlands.
Well-prepared for the future
BDI - BioEnergy International AG concentrated to a greater extent on its
core skills again last year - the in-house development and industrial
implementation of benchmark technologies. In line with the motto "explore
the land of new technology", the company started to tackle new research
challenges and made technical improvements to existing products and
services. In the new "Life Science" segment, BDI developed a new process
for the generation of algae products at its in-house research department.
The newly established, wholly-owned subsidiary BDI - BioLife Science GmbH
is now investing in the construction of a production plant of its own at
the Hartberg/Styria location.
About EUR 1.0 million were invested in the expansion of the technical
facilities at the German subsidiary UIC GmbH, in order to strengthen the
technology leadership and to accelerate the transformation of the company
from being a pure supplier of components to being a supplier of complete
plants.
